Advantages:-

1. The CAM system generate a complete tool path required for the automatic manufacturing.
2. The CAM system can use the computer- aided process planning and the computer assisted production planning.This results in effective planning and hence reduce the manufacturing time.
3. The CAM system can use on-line automatically inspection.This result is better product quality.
4. The CAM integrate all manufacturing functions.

Disadvantages:-

1. The cost of hardware and software used in CAM is high.
2. Highly trained manpower is required to operate the CAM system.
